diminished 5th vs augmented 4th

Is a tritone a diminished 5th…

… or a tritone is an augmented 4th instead?

Or both?

And what is the difference between an augmented 4th and a diminished 5t, if there is one?

(hint: there IS a difference)

See, if you think music theory is hard, it’s not music theory’s fault

The fault lies with all the people out there who ‘kinda sorta’ know music theory, but still try to explain it, and write articles about it…

… so everybody who reads them gets confused even about ‘easy’ and ‘basic’ things

and that’s how we have musicians who think that these three things are the same:

  • Augmented 4th
  • Diminished 5th
  • Tritone

… when in fact these are 3 different things. I’ll explain all about it in the video below.

In this video we also answer:

  • Would love to see you and Rick Beato make a video together :)
  • Who has invented the myth that a song must contain verse, chorus, bridge and so on?
  • What’s phrasing?
  • Am I the only one that watches your channel who isn’t a guitar player?

P.S. Not only that… in this video I also reveal my real-life text-to-speech computer app :-)

The tritone can be used also to make great music, that can sound super-dissonant, or super-nice depending on how you want to use it.

If you want to make music with the Tritone (and all the other intervals) and finally have the choice of making the music do what YOU want rather than going just by trial-and-error, then look no further than the Complete Chord Mastery guitar course
